My husband just uploaded a few pictures from our trip to Colorado a year ago last September. One of the first spots we took time to enjoy was Independence Pass. This is a fairly extreme climb by car, and was a quick way to get this flat-lander wife of his used to looking over the side…with nothing much between the car and the drop, to the tops of trees WAAAYYYY down below!

In years past, as the children were growing up, we made 2 road trips with them all the way out to Colorado. One when they were small in our pickup that had a cap over the back. Paul put a bench seat in the back, and a mattress over the rest of the floor, and the children traveled back there fairly comfortably, while we enjoyed ourselves in the cab up front. There was a sliding window between us and the kids, so we were able to talk and keep close tabs. We pulled a pop-up camper with us, and when we finally arrived at our destination, camped along the Colorado River in the Glenwood Springs area. This was by far the most memorable trip for our children, we hope the making of good memories for them in days to come.
